Baby Bottom Butter

This butter-balm is as very easy, almost melt and pour! To add some lightness, when the mixture is nearly cool, it is whisked with a hand held or electric balloon whisk (not a stick blender) to smooth and cream the butter.

The Soy version is much softer than the Beeswax Version as the Beeswax thickens the Butter considerably. Adjust the wax and firmess to suit your requirements.

Neither formula requires a Preservative as they contain no water, but the Rosemary Oleoresin Extract is a natural antioxidant which will length the life of the oils.

Makes 300g

Ingredients

  • 90g Soy Wax or Beeswax (30%)
  • 66g Castor Oil (22%)
  • 90g Shea Butter (30%)
  • 49g Almond, Fractionated Coconut or Camellia Oil (16.5%)
  • 3g Vitamin E (1%)
  • 1.5g (1 1/2 droppers) Rosemary Oleoresin Extract (0.5%)

    Method for Beeswax:

    1. Melt Beeswax in Pyrex Jug in Microwave - caution as this gets really hot
    2. Add the Liquid Oils and then reheat until Wax portion is completely liquid
    3. Add Shea Butter and stir until dissolved
    4. Add Rosemary Oleoresin Extract
    5. Stir until mixture is starting to reach liquid honey thickness, and then whisk with an electric mixer until the texture is light and creamy
    6. Pour into containers
    7. If making in summer, pop the containers into the freezer for 10 minutes to help firm the butter quickly

    Method for Soy Wax:

    1. Place all ingredients except Rosemary Oleoresin Exact into a Pyrex Jug and heat in Microwave a couple of minutes until completely liquid - caution as this can get really hot
    2. Add Rosemary Oleoresin Extract
    3. Stir until mixture is starting to reach liquid honey thickness, and then whisk with an electric mixer until the texture is light and creamy
    4. Pour into containers
    5. If making in summer, pop the containers into the freezer for 10 minutes to help firm the butter quickly
