Our exclusive Harmony Pure Essential Oil Blend (previously Happiness Blend) felt just right when I was planning this soap project. The warmth and depth of Cedarwood and Cinnamon compliment the sweetness of Orange. Oils of Lime and Petitgrain add freshness to the blend whilst Neroli adds a beautiful top note making it a delicious scrub experience.
This is a two layered soap, so you’ll need the Isopropyl Alcohol to get the layers to stick together well – and with this soap you’ll be set for a satisfying scrub session! With Harmony Pure Essential Oil Blend as the scent you will need just one colour to achieve these gorgeous soaps!
Microwave safe jugs - to hold 250ml minimum each (2 jugs if possible as scrub granules will be in the jug between batches)
Stirring stick, spoon or spatula
Knife and board to dice the soap
Dropper or pipette if not using a 10ml Essential Oil Bottle with Dripolator (trolley has a 25ml size included).
Each batch is a pour of 4 x 125g bars, so the instructions below are for 4 soaps. With the 1kg of soap you’ll make two batches of 4 soaps.
Dice the entire block of soap into 1 – 2 cm cubes, and then set out mould and ingredients.
Weigh 300g diced soap base into the long pour jug and melt in the microwave in short bursts until nearly liquid.
Stir to melt any remaining small pieces. Spritz with Isopropyl alcohol to remove surface bubbles.
Add ONE drop of our concentrated Yellow Liquid Pigment Dispersion Colourant, 1½ teaspoons of scrub granules and 4 – 8 g/ml Harmony Blend Essential Oils (depending on the strength you prefer).
Stir carefully, but thoroughly and spritz with Alcohol if there are any surface bubbles.
The best temperature to pour is around 55 – 60°C. The cooler you can manage the better, to ensure the granules are kept evenly suspended in the soap.
Keep the end of the jug spout well into the mould and pour the soap evenly between the four mould cavities.
Spritz with alcohol and leave to set up.
In the second jug, melt 200g soap base in the same way as you melted the first pour.
To this soap add 3 drops of colour – stir before deciding if you want any more as the colour is quite concentrated.
Add 4 – 8g/ml Harmony Essential Oil blend and stir well to combine.
Spritz the set soap in the moulds generously with Isopropyl Alcohol and then carefully pour the yellow soap over the top – you can fill right to the brim.
Allow to set up completely. This may take an hour or two and then you can unmould.
Repeat this process for the second batch.
Store away from moisture – wrap or store soaps in air tight jar until use.
Note: If using the trolley items, there will be Loads of Yellow Colour, jojoba Beads Witchazel and 4 pipettes left over for more soapy projects!
