Wildflower Honey Lanolin Natural Soap

Love, love love this soap!  I combined our infused calendula oil and pure lanolin with the luscious Wildflower Honey Fragrance (after L'Occitane) to make this soothing soap.  Some is set aside for my Father in Law, as he used to be a shearer, so it will be a blast from his past as he's just turned 90!  I am using this soap when my skin is playing up or really dry, in combination with a rich moisturiser or balm.

  50g Castor Oil
400g Coconut Oil
300g Olive Oil
200g Rice Bran Oil
  50g Lanolin BP
  50g Infused Calendula Oil
100g Mango Butter

400g Distilled Water
163g Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH)
  35g Wildflower and Honey Fragrance

Silicone Loaf Mould

Equipment
Digital Scale
Spatula
Stick Blender
All the usual Cold Process soapmaking equipment

This combination of ingredients makes for a hot gel so check your soap after half to one hour and if full gel has been reached, remove insulation.

Method:

  • If you are a beginner, we recommend you make a few batches before attempting this soap due to the hot gel.
  • For how to make soap from Scratch, please see our Cold Process Soapmaking Instructions

  • Set aside a spare mould or two for left over soap (I used the Heavy Duty Celtic Oval and made 2 soaps)
  • Melt all the oils and combine to light trace as usual
  • Prepare your workspace and set out the oils, lye water, mould and fragrance etc ready to go
  • Now add the fragrance into the pot and stir through thoroughly manually with the stick blender, and then turn the blender on until a nice medium trace is reached (which allows for the textured top)

  • Now pour into the loaf mould, with the left over into the spare moulds
  • Insulate (if soaping in cool weather) and when the soap reaches full gel, take off the insulation. If you have a very hot gel, pop the soap into the fridge

  • The soap on the left is when first poured, and the photo on the right is at full gel.
  • Allow to sit in the mould for a day or two and then unmould and slice as usual
