 Natural Facial Wash Recipe

This is a beginner formula, pure and simple, it's PEG Free, PALM OIL FREE and suitable if you have never made a surfactant based cleanser before.  Sucrose Cocoate is a water soluble emollient that is very, very mild and perfect for facial formulas.  You’ll find more facial cleansers and full information and instructions in our Bubble Bubble Toil and Confusion Book

I tend to use a small percentage of Fragrance or Essential Oils in my facial cleansers, but this is personal choice. If you want to keep it quite pure and natural include Rose Absolute 3% with a touch of Jasmine Absolute 3%

This formula makes approximately 200g, just enough for yourself, but you can increase  the quantity accurately by using the percentages.Note: If purchsing the minimum sizes in the trolley basket you will need to increase the foaming pumps and make 6 batches+

Ingredients

Water Phase:

Final Phase

For packaging:  We have included a Foaming Pump Bottle, no thickening is required.  If using the Foaming Pump Bottle, and dilute this mixture down by 50% (and use NO THICKENER AT ALL) and you'll pump loads of foam ready for your facial cleanse.  If you want to thicken the formula with some Shampoo Ultra Thick, you can use a regular pump bottle, or boston bottle to dispense this cleanser.

Note: If you want to have less cleansing, reduce the amount of Cocamidopropyl betaine and/or polyglucoside and increase the water by the same amount.

Method:

  • Heat Distilled Water to 70° C, and after removing from the heat add dl Panthenol and the Sucrose Cocoate and stir to dissolve, the heat of the water will help achieve this quickly

  • Now add Cocamidopropyl Betaine and Polyglucoside and then combine with the water, Sucrose Cocoate and dl Panthenol mixture

  • Mix thoroughly

  • When temperature is approximately 40° C, add preservative and Fragrance or Essential Oil and combine well

  • Test the pH with a pH strip and adjust to around 5 - 6 with citric acid

  • Pour into Foamy Pump, Boston Bottle or Pump Bottle

This is a basic, simple cleanser, and you can include Aloe Vera, Herbal Extracts, Hydrolyzed Proteins and other additives as you progress. Loads of formulas can be found in our Bubble Bubble Toil and Confusion Book.

Note:  The trolley items does not include any fragrance or essential oils or Citric Acid & pH strips, please select these individually ands add to trolley.
