Champagne Cold Process Soap Recipe

When this fragrance arrived, it begged to be soaped immediately!  Its a bubbly, fresh and slightly gingerish fragrance.  It was a dream to soap, and actually slowed trace, so if you want to be creative, this batch will give you time to play!

Champagne Fragrance is also an excellent blending scent, suggestions that work well in cold process soap are:

• 2 parts Champagne and 1 part Orange Essential Oil – Champagne & Orange
• 1 part Champagne and 1 part Pomegranate – Champagne Cocktail
• 2 parts Champagne, 1 part Lemon Essential Oil
• 1 part Champagne, 2 parts English Rose

What you need for this recipe: 

• 400g Coconut Oil
• 500g Olive Oil
• 200g Cocoa Butter
• 150g Castor Oil
  
• 178g Sodium Hydroxide
• 400 ml/g of Distilled Water
• We used 30ml (approx 6 teaspoons) of Champagne Fragrance.  This is quite strong, if you prefer a more subtle scent, use 20ml (approx 4 tsp) 
• This soap is coloured with Brites for CP Pink at very low concentration for the background, and a strong swirl portion with the same colour
  
  
• Wooden Slab Mould (with Silicone Liner)
  or
  Flexible Mould - Loaf (Regular) or our Silicone Lined Wooden Loaf Mould

Equipment:

All your regular Cold Process Soap making equipment including Safety Gear including Goggles and Gloves
2 x Jugs to hold 1 litre traced soap
Small beaker to hold the Fragrance - helpful, not essential

Method:

If you are a beginner, we recommend making this soap just one colour.  If you are a little more experienced, you can follow the instructions link to "In the Pot Swirling". 

• Prepare all ingredients and set our equipment.
• Set aside a medium heat safe jug for the pink colour In this case, we used Brite Pink for CP to colour the background, as well as the swirl colour.
• Bring soap to thin trace, and then remove approximately 1 - 2 cups of soap (I use a 500 or 750ml microwave save jug).
• Colour the main pot of soap with a pale shade of the Brite Pink for CP - taking care not to over trace.
• Colour the soap in the jug to the desired colour - darker than the soap in the main soap pot.
• Add the fragrance to the main pot and mix thorough - keeping it at light trace.
• Now pour the darker colour soap batter in one pour straight into the main pot - you can pour in a circle, but NO MIXING - PUT AWAY THAT STICK BLENDER!
• Immediately pour the whole contents of your soap pot into the mould.
• If you wish to adjust the colouring on the surface, now is the time to finish this using a chopstick or spatula to drag the colour into the pattern you desire.
• Cover and insulate.
• Unmould and slice as usual
