Errol the Owl Melt and Pour Soap Project


Why an  "Errol the Owl" Melt and Pour Soap project?  People just love owls!  *Note - The Milky Way Mould is no longer available.  We do have a single owl siicone moulds. 

If you don't want to use the Palm Free Bases, you choose SFIC Goatsmilk MP Base or any white Stephenson Base and SFIC Clear MP Base or any clear Stephenson Base.

Ingredients:

Equipment:

  • 500ml microwave safe jug
  • 2 small microwave safe jugs and 2 small cups
  • Stirring stick or spoon
  • Thermometer - very useful, but optional

Method:

  • Assemble ingredients, soap base, mould and tools

  • Snip the tips off two pipettes if using.  If using the soap injector tool, have a cup of hot water nearby for cleaning.
  • Cut a small cube of Clear Melt and Pour Soap approximately 2cm square
  • Place in the small cup and microwave for 5 - 10 seconds, check and give it another 5 seconds if required.
  • IT CAN BOIL REALLY QUICKLY!
  • Add a couple of drops of Black Liquid Dispersion and stir

  • Carefully fill the feet, beak and eyes of the mould

  • Now melt a 2cm cube of clear soap in the other small cup place in the small cup and microwave for 5 - 10 seconds,
  • check and give it another 5 seconds if required.
  • IT CAN BOIL REALLY QUICKLY!
  • Add ¼ tsp Latte Mica and stir well.  Spritz with alcohol if there are any dry spots
  • Use a pipette to flood the branch section of the mould cavities

  • Repeat with a 2cm cube of Goatsmilk (or white) soap base in the other jug, place in microwave for 5 - 10 seconds,
  • check and give it another 5 seconds if required.
  • IT CAN BOIL REALLY QUICKLY!
  • Spritz the block soap in the mould with alcohol to help the white overpour stick
  • Use a pipette to flood the eye and external feather sections of the mould

  • Use the Clean Up Tool to tidy any of the edges that have overflowed before the final brown overpour
  • Melt approximately 50g diced clear soap in the other small cup place in the microwave for 5 - 10 seconds, check and give it another 5 seconds if required.
  • IT CAN BOIL QUICKLY
  • Add ½ tsp Latte Mica and stir well.  Spritz any dry spots with alcohol to remove.
  • Now spritz the set up soap in the mould cavities.
  • Use a pipette to flood the top of the head and owl's chest sections of the mould
  • Now dice 300g of Goatsmilk Soap and melt in the microwave om the larger jug
  • Once liquid add 3g/ml Fragrance and stir well to combine
  • If using a thermometer the temperature should be around 56 - 60°C
  • Spritz the set soap in the mould cavities with alcohol and carefully pour in the melted soap
  • into the mould cavities oover the back of a spoon or spatula
  • Spritz with alcohol
  • When completely set up, release the air lock at the side of the mould and carefully unmould onto the bench.
  • Repeat this process to complete the other soaps.
  • Wrap as usual
