Saara's Deodorant Cream

Saara's Deodorant Cream

This Deodorant cream is in fact quite a thick lotion. This is not our creation, but generously shared by Saara in Finland. We are often asked for deodorant recipes, and as we don't work with them ourselves thank Saara for her contribution. We hope you will find this one useful.

This is a deodorant cream, not an anti-perspirant. What is the difference? A deodorant still allows the release of perspiration, but prevents the odour - it is the bacteria that cause the odour. Deodorants discourage the colonisation of bacteria.

Many people prefer to avoid interfering with normal/natural bodily functions and wish to avoid anti-per spirants which block the sweat glands. The under arms remain dry when using anti-perspirants which means no contact with the air, where the bacteria get to work on the perspiration. The most common ingredient used as an anti-perspirant is aluminum which is complexed with zirconium, which is the ingredient many people want to avoid.

This formula makes 400g

Part 1

Part 2

  • 212g Distilled Water (53%)
  • 40g Sea Salt (dissolve into the distilled water) (10%)
  • 8g Glycerine (2%)
  • 12g Apple Cider Vinegar (3%)

Part 3

Follow usual Lotion making Instructions

Notes:

If using Citrus Essential Oils, beware of wearing Tank Tops or Halter Tops, as these oils are photosensitising and your skin may burn and discolour in the sun.

Feet: I would add Lemongrass Essential Oil and Rosemary for Foot odour.
