Tania's CP Salt Soap Bars

Tania's Salt CP Soap Bars

I was lucky enough to be given one of these bars by Tania and I was very impressed! Tania has kindly given permission for us to publish her recipe here.

These bars make lovely luscious, big bubbles and have a slight exfoliating effect due to the salt. By Tania's choice of regular table salt (as opposed to Sea Salt) the size of the granule is very fine, which means it is much less abrasive. This salt can be purchased VERY cheaply at your regular supermarket in plastic bags. However, if you prefer a scrubbier bar, you can substitute our Fine or Regular Natural Sea Salt instead.

Method:

For how to make soap from Scratch, please see our Cold Process Soapmaking Instructions Page

  • Tania recommends you use single cavity moulds, and not a slab or log as this causes the bars to crumble when they are cut. If you want to pour a slab or log, you'll need to cut soon after it sets up to avoid crumbling during slicing
  • Our Heavy Duty Moulds work well for this type of Cold Processed Soap Bar and you'll avoid any cutting issues
  • Make Soap as usual and then when at thin trace add the Fragrance and Salt
  • If you choose another Fragrance or Essential Oil, ensure your choice does not accelerate trace
  • Now work quickly and pour the soap
  • Spoon the "salty soap" into individual cavity moulds and then tap the mould to settle the soap and eliminate any air bubbles
  • Insulate as usual
  • When unmoulding, slice a plastic spatula around the vertical sides of the mould and then tap to release.
