Summer Fruit Layered Cold Process Loaf

This batch suits our Square Loaf Mould comfortably. We divided the batch into three portions to make the loaf as shown in our picture for this bright and summerly loaf. We sliced the loaf with our Flat Blade Cutter and Wooden Cutter Guide .

We have used Brites for CP Lime, Brites for CP Yellow and Brites for CP Orange for each of the layers. You might find the Green Scent a little unusual, but it is sweet enough to sit comfortably between the two fruits! None of my choices accelerate trace, so you will have plenty of time to arrange your layers. If you choose different scents, and you are a beginner, make sure you choose fragrances that leave plenty of time to arrange the layers – so no accelerators!

We used the full water allowance to make sure a beginner could unmould this soap from our new loaf mould. We left the soap to gel with light insulation, and then the next day gently eased some air along the sides and base of the mould. We suggest ½ to 1 hour in the freezer, then remove and sit the mould upside down on the bench. Our soap fell out after 10 minutes of warming up to room temperature.

We had 300g of Soap left to pour two individual Contoured Rectangle Mould shaped soaps.

300g Palm Kernel Oil
200g Coconut Oil
150g Macadamia Oil
450g Rice Bran Oil
160g Caustic Soda (Sodium Hydroxide)
300 -400g Distilled Water (if you are a beginner, use 400g)
Fragrance and Weight of Layers
Top Layer: Yellow – weigh 270g traced Soap - 8g/ml Champagne Fragrance
Middle Layer: Green – weigh 360g traced Soap 10g/ml Lettuce Fragrance Oil
Middle Layer: Orange – weigh 660g traced Soap 20g/ml Peachy Keen Fragrance Oil
Colours:
Top Layer – Poured First: Brites for CP Yellow
Middle Layer: Brites for CP Green
Base Layer – Poured Last: Brites for CP Orange

Bring the soap to light trace and then divide the batch into portions. To slow trace down, I weigh a section, colour, fragrance and then pour this before moving on to the next layer.
Colour the base layer, hand stir in the fragrance and carefully pour into the mould. Tap gently to make sure the surface is flat and level
Check that the base layer has started to set up a little (it will be a little firmer)
Give the main soap pot a quick manual stir, and then weigh the middle layer portion, colour and fragrance
Again carefully pour of the back of a spoon into the mould. Tap gently to make sure the surface is flat and level
Repeat as above for the third layer
Cover and lightly insulate. Watch the gel as this mould will warp if you have a very hot gel

TIPS:

Pour the second layer from a very LOW height. A medium trace works best and try pouring over the back of a spoon, or spooning it carefully over the first layer to avoid breaking through the previous layer
