Shredded Cold Processed Soap Log

This yummy looking log was made because I had been experimenting with some piped CP soap and I just didn't create the look I was after. So, I grated 4 x 100g bars (which made about 3 cups of shredded soap) on the ex-cheese = now soap grater, and stirred this into a small, fresh batch of neutral coloured but scented CP. This one is a combo of Red Tea & Lychee and Kumquat, with the Kumquat coming from the rebatched shreds. The orange Red Tea & Lychee Soap smelled terrific, but the colour and the top was all wrong!

 Kumquat Soap

Method:

For how to make soap from Scratch, please see our Cold Process Soapmaking Instructions Page

Method:

  • Prepare all ingredients and line the mould as usual, leave lye water to cool outside
  • Grate 3 or 4 bars of pre-made CP in a contrasting colour
  • Bring soap to medium trace and stir through the Fragrance
  • Add the 3 - 4 cups of Shredded/Grated Soap and MANUALLY stir through the batch
  • Immediately Pour the whole contents of your soap pot into the mould
  • If you wish to adjust the texture on the surface, now is the time to finish this using a chopstick or spatula to drag the colour into the pattern you desire (a heavier trace, or leaving the batch 10 minutes can be helpful with this technique
  • Cover and insulate to gel
  • Unmould and slice as usual
