Aroma-Shower Fizzies

Aroma-Shower Fizzies

Aroma Shower Fizzies

These are so popular right now, I guess most “new ideas” are! This is a recipe, rather than a formula, measured in cups, so you can quickly and easily mix up a batch! This is sort of like having a “Clayton’s Bath”, a scentual experience, when you don’t have the time to sink into a long, relaxing bath.

Although these are primarly for a “feel good” aroma-shower, many people love to use this product as an inhalant. So if you have a cold or flu, you can use Essential Oils to release aroma to help with a stuffy nose and headache, or if you are tired and sluggish, a bright, and uplifting scent will give you bounce in your step! Fragrance oils are very nice too, just for the lovely scent and feeling of well being.

Note: If using Essential Oils, particularly potent ones such as Eucalyptus, Peppermint and the like, we recommend you use the LOWER amount suggested. The higher end is for Fragrance Oils, and less potent Essential Oil blends.

You’ll see the ingredients are very similar to Bath Bombs, and you’ll have that same fizz, but the Polysorbate allows the mixture to wash away nicely (as it’s a surfactant and solubliser) and the glycerine will hold the fizzies together, and make these a harder “tablet like” product. It is best to choose a plain style mould (like a hockey puck) as they release easily and present nicely in the bathroom.

Makes 10 – 12 Fizzies, depending on the size of the mould

Ingredients

Equipment Required

  • A glass, ceramic or stainless steel bowl, a strainer, wooden spoon
  • Moulds

Method:

  • Note: This mixture will be more moist than regular bath bombs, and you aiming to create a "mouldable" powder type mixture
  • Sift all the dry ingredients into a bowl
  • If colouring, add some colour into the mixture and work through well
  • Add Essential Oils and/or Fragrance and stir through well - if you like to you can use Natrasorb Bath to keep the mixture drier
  • You may like to get your hands in here, gloves are a good idea due to high percentage of essential oils
  • The mixture should hold together when squeezed VERY firmly in your hand, and should feel a little dry
  • Now on to moulding, you are nearly there
  • Fill a mould cavity with mixture, and press VERY firmly, now repeat until all cavities are filled and pressed firmly
  • Now leave for approximately 1-3 minutes
  • Prepare a surface with greaseproof or waxed paper (preferably on tray), ready to unmould
  • Invert the mould and give the far edge a quick "tap" onto the tray and the tablets will drop straight out. If they crumble, you need to adjust the glycerine and/or Polysorbate 20
  • Beware of open doors and humidity, both will tend to activate the tablets
  • Cover with a dry tea towel and allow to air dry for a day if possible, if humid close ina cupboard

NB: Work fast during humid weather and in winter as they invariably activate unless you have a dry atmosphere.

To use: Turn on the shower and allow the water to get hot. Place the fizzy on the shower recess floor under the water, and step in yourself. Enjoy your Aroma-shower!
