Black Tea & Shea CP Soap Log

Method:

For how to make soap from Scratch, please see our Cold Process Soapmaking Instructions Page

If you are a beginner, we recommend make this soap just one colour. If you are more advanced, you can follow the instructions below and make the centre pattern similar to marbling with a contrasting colour down the centre.

  • Prepare all ingredients and line the mould as usual
  • Set aside a small container or icecream bucket for the black colour In this case, we used Brite Yellow for CP to colour the background, with some Titanium Dioxide and black for the contrast
  • Bring soap to thin trace, mix through the Titanium Dioxide and then remove approximately 1-2 cups of soap (I use a 500ml plastic ice cream container for this)
  • Colour the soap in the ice cream container to a medium shade of Black
  • Colour the main pot of soap with a light shade of the Brite Yellow for CP with the Titanium Dioxide - careful not to overtrace
  • Mix scent blend thoroughly in the main soap pot portion (the yellow), and pour most of this soap into the mould
  • Now begin to spoon the black portion in the icecream container over the first pour in the mould, in a line down the middle - control where it sits in the mould
  • Finish the pour with the remaining soap from the main pot - this is placed at the edges
  • Now finish the black and use a chopstick or spatula to drag the colour into the textured top and to soften the sharp colour
  • See full instructions for Swirling Soap here).
  • Spritz with Isopropyl Alcohol to avoid possible ashing of the top surface, then insulate for gel
  • Unmould and slice as usual
